Lynn Hedeman, M.D.

Specialties: Dr. Hedeman specializes in the surgical treatment of brain and spine disorders. His special interests include decompression of cranial nerves for facial pain and spasm, thoracic sympathectomy for hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) and pituitary surgeries.

Training: Dr. Hedeman attended Michigan State University, University of Michigan Medical School, his internship and residency were done at the University of Kansas. He is board certified in neurosurgery. .

  John Stevenson, M.D.

Specialties: Dr. Stevenson specializes in the treatment of adult brain and spine disorders and has diverse interests, including neuro-oncology, complex spine, pain and trauma.

Training: Dr Stevenson graduated from the Pennsylvania State University and attended Wayne State University School of Medicine. His surgical internship and neurosurgical residency were served at the Wayne State University Affiliated Hospitals of the Detroit Medical Center. Fellowship training included time at the University of Western Ontario and the University of Washington.

Current Institutional Appointments: Dr. Stevenson has privileges at Spectrum Health Hospitals and Saint Mary's hospital.

Professional Affiliations: Dr Stevenson has been Board Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons since 1990. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He belongs to the Kent County and Michigan State Medical Societies, the Western Michigan Neurological Society, and is a member of the AMA.

  Lawrence Foody, M.D., Ph.D.

Specialties: Dr Foody is board certified with the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and specializes in Pediatrics neurosurgery.

Training: He received his Medical Degree from St Louis University School of Medicine in Missouri. Dr Foody also received a Ph.D. in Anatomy from St Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his fellowship at the Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio and both his surgical internship and neurosurgical residencies were completed at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio.

  John F. Keller, M.D.

Specialties: Dr. Keller specializes in the surgical treatment of brain and spine disorders. His special interests include disorders of the cervical and lumbar spine. With an emphasis on motion preservation as well as management of complex spinal disorders and minimally invasive approaches.

Training: Dr. Keller is a graduate of Michigan State University. He served his surgical internship at Michigan State University Integrated Hospitals and his residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Keller was board certified in Neurosurgery in 1999 and has been practicing Neurological Surgery since 1995.

Institutional Appointments: Dr. Keller holds clinical privileges at Spectrum Health, St Mary's Health Care and Metro Health Hospitals. He served as Chief of Neurosurgery at Spectrum Health from 1/1/04 to 12/31/09.

  Stanley Skarli, M.D.

Specialties: Dr. Skarli is a pediatric neurosurgeon who holds double board certification from the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery. His special interests include selective dorsal rhizotomy, craniovertebral anomalies, spasticity management, and neuroendoscopy.

Training: Dr. Skarli is a graduate of Oral Roberts University School of Medicine, Tulsa, Oklahoma. He completed his surgical internship at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri and his residency at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore, Maryland. His pediatric neurosurgical fellowship was completed at Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Current Institutional Appointments: Dr. Skarli is Division Chief of Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. Dr. Skarli holds a Clinical Assistant Professorship at Michigan State University.

Professional Affiliations: Dr. Skarli is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a member of ASPN (American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgeons), AANS (American Association of Neurologic Surgeons), CNS (Congress of Neurological Surgeons), KCMS (Kent County Medical Society), MSMS (Michigan State Medical Society), and West Michigan Neurological Society.

  Bryan Figueroa, M.D.

Specialties: Dr. Figueroa is a Boston-trained cerebrovascular and skull-based neurosurgeon. He specializes in aneurysms of the brain, arteriorvenous malformation, cavernous malformations and carotid artery disease as well as brain tumors of the skull base whose treatment may involve endoscopic and/or transcranial surgery, acoustic neuroma, pituitary gland tumors, meningiomas and gliomas.

Training: Dr. Figueroa is a graduate of the University of Michigan where he also completed his general surgery internship. He completed his neurosurgical training in Boston at the Harvard Medical School, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, and Boston Children’s Hospital's residency program. He also completed a fellowship in cerebrovascular and skull base neurosurgery with the Indianapolis Neurosurgical Group.

Professional Affiliations: Dr. Figueroa is a member of AANS (American Association of Neurological Surgeons). KCMS (Kent County Medical Society), MSMS (Michigan State Medical Society), West Michigan Neurological Society and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.   John S. Winestone, MD

Specialties: Dr. Winestone specializes in surgical treatment of disorders of the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves. His special interests include complex spine surgery, spinal deformity, minimally invasive spine surgery, and functional neurosurgery.

Training: Dr. Winestone attended medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and completed a surgical internship and neurosurgical residency at the University of Tennessee/Semmes-Murphey Clinic Department of Neurosurgery in Memphis, TN. Following residency, he completed fellowships in functional neurosurgery at Hadassah University Hospital/The Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, and in spinal deformity surgery at the Mayfield Clinic in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Professional Affiliations: Dr. Winestone is a member of the AANS (American Association of Neurological Surgeons), the CNS (Congress of Neurological Surgeons), and the Mayfield Society.
